A 33-year-old Oak Park man was killed early Sunday after he was struck by a car in West Garfield Park.
Alejandro Cruz, of the 700 block of Lexington Street, ran into traffic and was struck by a 2004 Chevy Impala that was northbound in the 400 block of South Pulaski Road shortly before 8 a.m., according to Chicago Police News Affairs and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Cruz was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead at 9:05 a.m.
The 22-year-old driver was cited for failure to carry his driver’s license and proof of insurance. A news affairs officer said the driver stayed on the scene and was not charged in connection with the accident.
