OPRF High School graduate Melissa Smith (’97) helped lead the Chicago Force, a women’s tackle football team, to an undefeated record of 8-0 during the regular season.

Smith, a running back and linebacker, helped the Force outscore their opponents 425-34 during the regular season.

The Force, who have also rolled through the playoffs thus far, take on the Boston Militia in the semifinals on Saturday (July 21) for a chance to play in the Women’s Football Alliance Championship at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, scheduled for Aug. 4 and to be broadcast on ESPN3.

Smith, who has played football for five years, works as a supervisor at Hephzibah in Oak Park.
