The OPRF boys water polo team finished second at the West Suburban (Silver) Conference Meet on Saturday.
The Huskies lost to Lyons Township 13-7 in the title game. The Lions broke a 5-5 tie in the third quarter by scoring six unanswered goals.
“It was a great game, but against a team like Lyons you have to play four quarters to win and we only played three,” said OPRF head coach John Rapp. “Our team played the best water polo it has played all season, which is promising going into our tough sectional this week.”
The Huskies downed Morton 18-6 and Hinsdale Central 13-9 to make it to the title game.
Troy Williams was selected WSC Player of the Year and First Team All-conference. Nathan Pimental was also selected first team All-conference. Goalkeeper Sean Obrecht earned Second Team All-conference status.
The Huskies take on York in the first round of the York Sectional on Wednesday (May 9). OPRF has two wins against the Dukes this season. The winner will move on to likely play defending state champ Fenwick in the sectional semifinal on Friday.
