Another Oak Park restaurant is soon to be featured on the public television show Check, Please!

WTTW spent one day last month shooting at Hemmingway’s Bistro, the 10-year-old French-American bistro, located at 211 N. Oak Park Ave. The half-hour show features three average Joes who each pick a restaurant and then review all three.

Christopher Ala, the 46-year-old owner, said the show’s producers wouldn’t say who recommended his restaurant. Hemmingway’s Bistro had been nominated to appear on Check, Please! several times before, he added, but never made the cut.

“It’s great that our customers love us that much. We’re very honored,” said Ala, who lives in Oak Park and runs the restaurant with his wife, Lucia.

Ala has heard that the show will likely run in November, though he didn’t get an exact date. Hemmingway’s Bistro joins two other Oak Park restaurants that have already appeared on Check, Please! — New Rebozo and the now-defunct Café le Coq. Maya Del Sol also recently filmed a segment for the show, which is expected to air on Oct. 28.
