Lights, camera, and … crash that kitchen. Last week Oak Parker Mark Meagher, who owns Ultimate Design & Builders, a home remodeling company based in Oak Park, stepped in front of the cameras for the filming of Kitchen Crashers.

The concept of the show, which airs on HGTV, involves a designer choosing a random person at Home Depot or Lowes to have their kitchen remodeled in three days or less for free. Meagher and his company were chosen to be the contractors for a recent episode.

“I was excited about the opportunity to show off our craftsmanship on national television,” said Meagher, whose crew was picked to remodel the kitchen of a historic Chicago bungalow. “It was a little nerve wracking that I would have to remodel an entire kitchen in just three days since I had never done it, but I knew that if it had been done before my crew and I could get it done.”

Meagher and his crew worked around the clock, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and finishing between 10 and 11 at night.

“I was told by producers that my crew and I actually knocked it out in record time, finishing early on the final day,” he says. “The kitchen remodel turned out amazing.”

Meagher said the episode is likely to air in January and there is talk of Ultimate Design & Builders being featured in future episodes where an old Chicago firehouse is remodeled.
