While rivals OPRF and Fenwick play one another quite often in several different sports, the two schools that are separated by just a few blocks haven’t gone head-to-head — or helmet-to-helmet — in football for quite some time.

That will change tomorrow night (Thursday, July 14) when the Huskies host the Friars, the Morton Mustangs and possibly one more school at Oak Park Stadium for a 7-on-7 tournament. Fans are welcome to come watch. The tournament will begin at 6 p.m.

It might not have the same intensity as a real match-up between the two football teams, but it should still be interesting just the same. Although, it should be noted: 7-on-7 focuses on passing with a QB, receivers and backs, and both programs are leaning towards having offenses this fall that run the ball extensively.

Check out the July 20 print edition of Wednesday Journal as we check in with new OPRF head football coach John Hoerster.
