Now that all the holidays (except for Super Bowl Sunday, of course) are past, it is time to get back to reading. But reading can be a solitary endeavor and winter is a solitary time, so how to get yourself out of the house more? Join a book club.
I am thinking about sponsored clubs that are open to anyone. A quick rundown of the ones I found this week:
Dominican University Book Club. There is a meeting this week, 01-25-11 at 7 PM in Lewis Hall. For more info: www.dom.edu
Genre X Book Discussion Group is open to readers who are 20-30 years old. They meet the 4th Tuesday of the month at 8 PM at Molly Malones. Contact: www.themollymalones.com
Mystery Book Club at Centuries & Sleuths Book Store. Next meeting is 2-19-11 at 2PM at the store. Contact: cns7419@sbcglobal.net
History Book Club at Centuries & Sleuths. Next meeting is 01-30-11 at 2 PM at the store. Contact: cns7419@sbcglobal.net
Adults Who Love Young Adult Books. First meeting is 02-10-11 at 7 PM at The Magic Tree Book Store. Contact: iris@magictreebooks.com
Indie Book Club is forming. First meeting is in March 2011 at The Magic Tree. Contact: iris@magictreeebooks.com
Happy reading!
