On my walk in Oak Park this morning, I saw a young woman straddling her bike in the middle of a side street. I wondered why. She had received a call on her cell phone, but before she could answer it she had to remove the bud in her right ear. I thought it was an apt symbol.
Her head was wired into the 21st century but her feet were in the 19th.
