Home, garage and vehicle burglaries continue to occupy the time of criminal investigators in Oak Park and River Forest.

“I think we probably have a crew working,” Commander Len Jorgensen said of the ongoing burglaries, which are occurring throughout the village. “But we don’t have enough information yet to narrow it down.

The morning of Nov. 1, thieves pulled out a screen and entered through an unlocked window on the 1000 block of N. Taylor. Four televisions, a laptop computer and assorted electronics valued in total at $10,025 were stolen.

The afternoon of Oct. 29, a rear window of a second floor apartment on the first block of Park in River Forest was broken and the residence burglarized. A laptop computer and assorted other electronics were stolen.

During the day on Oct. 26, someone pried a door at a residence on the 800 block of N. Harlem and stole various electronics and a quantity of cash. Total loss was $4,500.

There were several attempted burglaries. The morning of Oct. 30, the frame of a rear door on the 600 block of S. Harvey was damaged by someone kicking it during a burglary attempt. Around the same time, a man was observed on the 1000 block of Highland kicking a rear door while attempting to break the dead bolt lock with a large pry bar.

The evening of Oct. 30, the cylinder of a dead bolt on a rear door on the 300 block of S. Cuyler was pulled out, but entry was not gained. And a rear basement window on the 600 block of N. Lombard was broken during the day Oct. 26.

Vehicle, garage burglary

The evening of Nov. 1, the side door of a garage on the 600 block of Wisconsin was pried open. Golf clubs, a snow blower and other tools valued at $1,520 were stolen and a car was ransacked.

Overnight Oct. 25, assorted golf clubs valued in total at $3,500 were stolen from an unlocked garage on the 600 block of Monroe.

The night of Oct. 30, the window of a car on the 100 block of N. Humphrey was smashed and a wallet stolen.

Overnight Oct. 30 a car window on the 900 block of N. East was smashed and $10 in coins stolen.

Overnight Oct. 30, the window of a car on the 500 block of Home was smashed and a GPS device stolen.

Overnight Oct. 31, the window of a car on the 400 block of Thomas was smashed and a GPS device stolen.

Overnight Oct. 31, the window of a car on the 300 block of Linden was smashed and a designer purse and wallet, including $200 cash, were stolen.

Overnight Oct. 31, a GPS device and an iPod were stolen from an unlocked car on the 400 block of Forest.

The side door of a garage on the 800 block of S. Maple was forced open overnight Oct. 27 and two laptop computers and an iPod stolen from a car.

Overnight Oct. 31, thieves entered an unlocked garage on the 7300 block of Lake and damaged the interior of a car while ransacking it.

Meanwhile, River Forest police left crime hazard warnings on two wide open garages on the 8100 block of Lake and 700 block of William.

Theft

Marquell M. Boyd, 20, of 1114 N. Austin was arrested at the Cook County building downtown the afternoon of Oct. 30 and charged with two counts of felony theft for allegedly stealing items from two lockers inside Oak Park Hospital, 520 S. Maple, Oct. 6.

The afternoon of Oct. 30, a River Forest woman’s 1997 Saturn, valued at $4,000, was stolen from the OPRF parking garage on the 600 block of Lake. The next afternoon 11th District Chicago police stopped the car on the 400 block of S. Cicero Ave. and arrested two Oak Park men, Rodrick Harris, 21, of 114 Frank Lloyd Wright Lane, and Christopher McConnell, 21, of 916 S. Austin.

Joyce A. Lyons, 51, of 148 N. Mayfield, was charged with retail theft after she allegedly left the CVS Pharmacy, 345 Madison, without paying for merchandise the evening of Oct. 27. Within minutes of that incident, Martin Correa, Jr. 38, of Franklin Park, was arrested and charged with retail theft at the CVS Pharmacy, 6748 Roosevelt. Police say he also left the store without paying for merchandise.

Tyshawn L. Campbell, 29, of 5107 W. Jackson, Chicago was arrested the morning of Oct. 31, after he was allegedly observed concealing merchandise on his person and leaving the Dominick’s, 259 Lake.

Just after noon Oct. 26, a man took numerous items from a shelf inside the CVS Pharmacy, 345 Madison, and left without paying.

Two cars parked on the 7900 block of Lake the afternoon of Oct. 27 had their catalytic converters cut off and stolen.

Battery, assault

Cassius M. Hawkins, 45, of 1929 S. 12th St., Maywood was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of battery the evening of Oct. 25 after verbally assaulting two and pushing one CTA employee while on a Blue Line train at the Austin station. Hawkins reportedly took issue with being told he couldn’t eat the fried chicken he brought aboard the train, in violation to posted CTA rules.

Collynn R. Bunker, 25, of 914 North Blvd., was arrested around 11 p.m. Nov. 1, after she allegedly scratched her boyfriend on the face and neck with her fingernails during an argument.

Disorderly conduct

Stephen B. Lewis, 18, of 816 Elgin, Forest Park, and Tania N. Jenkins, 19, of 415 S. Central, Chicago, were arrested around 3:30 a.m. Oct. 28 after they allegedly filed a false domestic battery report on the 600 block of S. Austin.

These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Oak Park and River Forest police departments from Oct. 26-Nov. 1. Not all incidents that occurred are listed. Anyone named in reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.

River Forest woman arrested yet again

Ashley A. Ronsen, of 1414 Keystone, River Forest, was arrested the morning of Oct. 30 on the 300 block of N. Scoville by Oak Park police aware of a warrant charging her with a an Oct. 12 battery outside Whittier School. A custody search then allegedly found her in possession of 18.5 grams of the hallucinogenic drug psilocybin, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Ronsen was last arrested by Oak Park police early on Sept. 7, after allegedly being observed driving at a high rate of speed. She was charged with residential burglary, burglary to auto, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and criminal defacement to property in relation to entering a home on the 1100 block of S. Ridgeland, taking car keys and taking the owner’s car without permission.

The Northwest Times of Indiana newspaper reports that Ronsen was one of three Oak Park area adults arrested in connection with the theft of $224 worth of clothing from a Kmart in Portage in early June.
