Peter Kowalczuk, who graduated from OPRF High School in June, recently finished first at the 2007 Cadet and Junior Nationals for Greco Roman and freestyle wrestling in Fargo, N.D.
Kowalczuk, a member of Team Illinois that also won the national championship in Oklahoma City, competed in both styles. He went on to go undefeated in Greco Roman style.
Softball tryouts
The Windmills girls softball organization will hold tryouts for 2008 teams on Sunday, August 5, at Ridgeland Common, Lake and Scoville, in Oak Park. Girls 12-U and 10-U: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Girls 14-U, 16-U, 18-U: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, go to windmillsfastpitch.com.
