The OPRF wrestling team grappled its way to eight weight division titles to win the Oak Park Wrestling Regional held at Fenwick on Saturday.

The Huskies, who now move on to the Franklin Park-Northlake Sectional this Saturday, scored a whopping 254 points for the victory. Leyden, who will host the sectional, finished second with 170.5 points.

Ellis and LillaShawn Coleman both won their respective weight classes. Ellis (23-1), a sophomore, won the 112-pound weight class by pinning Fenwick’s Chris Dardanes in 1:54. LillaShawn (119 pound weight class) won 8-2 over Leyden’s Chris Reed.

OPRF senior Weldon Rogers defeated Leyden’s Matt Soch 10-8 to win at 140 pounds, and sophomore Dan Martin won at 145 pounds with an injury default.

Patrick Wolfe (189) pinned his opponent in 3:47, while heavyweight Peter Kowalczuk put St. Patrick’s G.E. Vitzileos to the mat in 3:12.

OPRF’s Peter Lovaas also won at 152-pounds, and Colin Weir (160) outgrappled Leyden’s Juan Giron to win 17-12 in overtime.

Barnhisal, Dardanes lead Friars

Fenwick’s youth movement made its mark at the Oak Park Regional on Saturday.

Bobby Barnhisal took first place in the 130-pound weight class. Barnhisal (36-4), a sophomore, defeated St. Patrick’s Jimmy Dinnio 14-7.

Freshman Nick Dardanes (13-4) won the 103-pound weight class with a 13-4 decision over Proviso East’s Terry Murphy. Freshman Chris Dardanes (32-4) finished second in the 112-pound weight class.

The Friars finished fourth as a team in the standings with 117 points.
