We’re pretty mad at ourselves for cutting up and throwing away that big bush we pulled out of our front yard last week. We’re thinking we could have scored quite a few plants in exchange for it at the Spring Perennial and Seedling Exchange this Saturday at Oak Park Conservatory, 615 Garfield St. (386-4700).
Actually, we haven’t cut the bush up yet. Actually, it’s lying dead on its side by the back gate. We were supposed to have disposed of it by now, but we’ve been putting it off. If we drag it to the plant exchange, do you think we could still get anything for it?
We’re planning to go to the Lake Theatre on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. to see the Oak Park and River Forest High School Film Festival (434-3099). Please don’t tell our children. They have made it clear we are not to come anywhere near the Lake Theatre during any community event in which they have played a part. Apparently, we ruined our daughter’s life at the premiere of her middle school movie by screaming when her limo pulled up to the red carpet. We were just trying to help by creating a festive air. Apparently, we should have brought our dead bush and hid behind it.
Have you heard about these Quick Fix sessions at Designs Of The Interior, 1035 Lake St. (848-4280)? They’re offering 20-minute consultations this Saturday for those who face home decor challenges. We fit that bill, you betcha. But we’re embarrassed to go, having always suspected that those who worry about home decorating have nothing better to think about. Perhaps it would behoove us to take our bush. “Talk to the tree,” we shall mumble from behind it, when it is our turn.
