Thomas Trifone, 41, graduate of Ascension and Quigley North
Thomas M. Trifone, 41, of Terre Haute, Ind. and formerly of Oak Park, died Nov. 24, 2004. The son of Henry Trifone and Mary Pfeifer Trifone, he was born on Aug. 5, 1963 and graduated from Ascension School in Oak Park, Quigley Preparatory Seminary North High School in Chicago, and Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.

Thomas Trifone was the father of Patrick and Autumn; brother of Catherine (Bruce) Denham, William, John (Marlene), Jeanne, Daniel, Marianne, Edward and the late Robert and James Trifone; uncle of 12 nieces and nephews and one grandnephew, and former husband of Patricia Malmrose Trifone.

Visitation and funeral Mass were celebrated in Terre Haute. Burial service was held Nov. 29 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel in Hillside where he was interred. Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home in Terre Haute handled funeral arrangements.

Billy Swisher, 85, mason, WWII Army Air Corp vet
Billy Victor Swisher, 85, of Marion, Ind., died Jan. 14, 2005 at the VA Hospital in Marion. Born in Gas City, Ind., on Nov. 21, 1919, the son of Earl and Golda (Reavis) Swisher, he was a member of the First Christian Church of Gas City from the age of 8. A veteran of the Army Air Corp in WWII, he remained a lifetime member of the Gas City VFW. He worked as a foreman for Owen-Illinois and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Bill Swisher was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Mary Ellen (nee Woolard). He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his children, Sara (Alan) McNabb of Bloomington, Ind., and Michael (Martha) Swisher of Oak Park; his step-daughters, Linda (Bernard) Dreiman, Jane (Dave) Anderson, and Mary Beth (Glenn) Weckerlin; his grandsons, Stephen and Christopher Swisher; his step-grandchildren, Kristen, Tyler, Rachael, Hanna, James, Andrea and Nicole; and his great-granddaughter, Ellis. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Carmen Swisher and Betty Rose Skeens.

Visitation with Masonic rites was held Jan. 16 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service in Gas City. Funeral services were held in Storey Chapel on Jan. 17, Rev. Dave Shepherd officiating, followed by interment at Grant Memorial Park in Marion.

Al Darre Sr., 84, photographer, WWII vet, sailor
Aldis P. Darre, Sr., 84, died Jan. 10, 2005 at his home in Berwyn, where he moved five years ago. Before that, he was a lifetime Oak Park resident, born on May 19, 1920.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he earned a victory medal and an American campaign medal for his service from 1943-46. He worked as a self-employed photographer. An avid sailor, he was a member of the Heritage Boat Club and the Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club.

Al Darre was the father of Henry Darre, Laura (Robert) Kurz, Martha Gassman, and Aldis (Cynthia) Darre, Jr.; the brother of Robert (Winona) and Ken (Lauretta) Darre; the grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of one.

Visitation was held Jan. 13 at Kopicki’s Heritage Funeral Home in Berwyn. Funeral service was held the same day at Parkwyn Funeral Directors Crematory of Berwyn.
