Open Books is a Chicago organization that distributes books and provides literacy programs in “book deserts” – neighborhoods where book access is hard to come by. If you’ve donated books in the big metal bins by the Oak Park Public Library (and there are enough of you that we had to install a second bin!), please know those books are going to schools and communities (including our neighbors in Austin) with the goal to help families become lifelong readers. As a believer in the power of books to change lives, I thank you for your support. If you’re able to do more in this challenging time for nonprofits, we’re very much in need of financial donations to continue our programming. Visit www.open-books.org or email me if you’d like to learn more!
