Working from the library’s Idea Box, members of Art Attack, a teen volunteer team, pieced together grass, sticks, and other earth-friendly materials to make a public art installation. At the end of an intense week they installed caterpillars and mushrooms in front of the Main Library and at Austin Gardens.
This team of nine teens blogged and shared photos each day, as they fleshed out their ideas with guidance from librarian Michele Paladines and Simon Gallo, a local artist and art educator.
Each summer the Art Attack team works on a different art project to beautify the community and contribute to Oak Park’s rich artistic heritage. Art Attack is just one of Oak Park Public Library’s teen summer volunteer efforts. Teens are volunteering their time and talent on other projects too.
