Author Archives: Joanna Skubish
Born and raised in Miami, Joanna Skubish has been calling Oak Park home for nearly a decade. Although she misses the Sunshine State in February, she is constantly warmed by the generosity of her community. She has seen neighbors help each other with pets, children, through floods and sickness, and has watched them extend themselves beyond their neighborhoods to help others through area non-profits, schools, religious organizations, community service groups and more. Joanna has worked for non-profit organizations for more than 20 years, and has been a volunteer at PADS, Hatch Elementary School, Brooks Middle School and with other area projects. She is pleased to currently be working right here in her hometown as the Sponsorship Coordinator of the Park District of Oak Park. She looks forward to profiling volunteer programs and opportunities in her blog, as well as hearing about readers' experiences.
