Q: Dear Suze:  I am planning a big party in my yard for Memorial Day weekend - I need help with what to wear that will be stylish but easy to run around in?

Diane Hunter, River Forest

A: Dear Diane,

Thank you for writing in with your Style question.  I love everything about summer parties, but throwing one presents the difficult situation of sourcing the perfect hostess outfit, where comfort meets style.

I suggest choosing an easy knit jersey dress, in a fun stripe; or a caftan style with a colorful belt - checkout the affordable options at Old Navy.  These silhouettes are versatile, and can be worn throughout the season, switching things up with a few key accessories.

For some seriously cute footwear - there are many options.  A wedge sandal is a great choice, very comfy & chic; keeping the heel height under 2" is key.  Soko boutique in Oak Park has a collection of head turning styles, in mixed materials - impossible to resist!  Toss on a chunky necklace, or an edgy cocktail ring and have a big scarf or gauzy cardigan handy for when the sun goes down.  Voila, you are party -ready!
