Amity School Children's Aid fundraiser

By Suze Solari
The non profit organization, Amity School Children's Aid held their annual Fashion show & Luncheon fundraiser at the Oak Park Country Club - the venue graciously hosts the event every year, on the second Tuesday of May.
What a fabulous tradition to kick off the Summer season in Chicago! Thanks to Amity President Myra Price, and the volunteer board members who work diligently with local retailers & vendors to provide a day of shopping, silent auction and a preview of multi-seasonal local fashion by: Sugarcup Trading, Barbara Bates Design, York Furrier, Muse, Sanem's, Only She, Boho Chic & Stella & Dot. Also displayed on the runway: the stunning, award winning fur garment collection of SAIC student designer Jamie Lange - a collaboration with York Furrier.
The Charity honored Sue Crothers - Gee with the 'Outstanding Citizen Award', the 5th annual distinction. An avid philanthropist, student mentor and environmental champion, Sue spoke of her passion for giving back to her community, citing a story about Mother Theresa, that by making a change to even just one person's life, you can change the world.
Founded in 1924, the Amity Children's Aid Foundation is a local organization dedicated to helping public school children in Oak Park and River Forest. Amity provides eyeglasses, hearing aids, shoes, winter coats and other essentials. Join the women of the Amity Foundation to share resources, raise funds for local children & support families in need. For more information or to become a member call: #708-383-9165.
