OPRF Chamber of Commerce Board President, Kim Goldschmidt, introduced the second annual "Model Citizen" Fashion Show, and he revealed he's not afraid to watch Project Runway. As a matter of fact, he enjoys it.

The Fashion Show benefitting the OPRF Chamber of Commerce was hosted on Tuesday, April 12th at the Oak Park Arms Ballroom.

We were reminded that the last year has seen the addition of some terrific new fashion retailers, "helping to increase our area's credibility as THE shopping destination of the western suburbs."

It was a family affair with businesses near and dear on board to create a scrumptious and style-infused afternoon of fun and entertainment. Maya del Sol catered while Westgate Flower and Plant Shop provided the bright and delicate floral centerpieces.

Marion Street Cheese Market supplied drinks - beer and wine, and Oak Park's newest kid on the block, Sugar Fixe Patisserie, satiated our sweet tooth with bite-sized confections.

Oak Park Chief of Police, Rick Tanksley, was on hand to protect and serve - the models, that is. Tanksley assured a safe entrance of the models as they sashayed down a marble staircase - and safety never looked so dapper. The Chief of Police, clad in a three-piece suit, reminded us that chilvary is not dead.

Important contributors to our community hit the runway, wearing fashion-forward ensembles and their best smiles. The list included Frank Lippo, Executive Director of the Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest; Molly Philosophos, Director of Development at Hephzibah Children's Association; and Deirdre Brennan, Executive Director at Oak Park Public Library. Business and pleasure mixed well in the convivial atmosphere.

In this all-inclusive fete, no child (or dog) was left behind.

Yasmeen Schuller, Director of Verisimo Opera Club, looked dashing in Takara, while her cool canine, Shakespeare, showed off his own talents wearing Scratch and Sniff doggy apparel. Maria Onesto Moran, Founder and President of Green House Home Experts, carried her handsome, pint-sized son, Oscar - who was by far my favorite model of the show - in Majamas attire.

The comely models were outfitted by participating retailers including indie shops Sanem's, Muse, Croix, Anana's, Filoni, Chameleon, and Sugarcup Trading (for green and budding fashionistas).

With winsome choices for apparel such as these, why would anyone shop anywhere else?

Take a look at the photo gallery for a peak at some great smiles and fantastic apparel!

Who knew OP had their own fashion show? Wish I'd known about it before I discovered this site/blog. I look forward to next year's show. I don't know a lot about fashion (although my goal is to dress stylishly) - I enjoy our community's local boutiques and this sounds like a wonderful way to find out what our local retailers have to offer.

@Brad: Thank you! With a vibrant and eclectic community of retail boutiques in our community, it's fun to showcase their infinite inventory of cool products. Yasmeen looked beautiful, and the Fashion Show was complete because of the furry, four-legged model (and rather well-trained I might add)!

Hi Christina, It's me, Brad Schuller. Excellent article! Everywhere I went to put up fliers and posters for Magic Flute, people were proudly displaying a blog post from you, and you have a lot of fans in the community. Verismo Opera included. Thanks for including Yasmeen in your blog. ciao
