With exception to Summer, I have a keen reluctance to accept the arrival of a new season, especially Winter - and you know why... Chicago winters are long & cold.

One ritual I perform this time of year is to evaluate my Fall / Winter shoe & boots collection.  Hauling each pair out of my spare room closet is no small task, but necessary.  I have them cleaned, resoled and repaired at Tony’s Shoe Clinic, or Lindy’s Cleaners, both on Oak Park Ave.  After review what is missing, its time to shop!  So, for Today’s Style tip, I am featuring favorite Boot options to beat the cold, and step out in stylish comfort.  First stop: Nora’s Shoe shop, a fixture in the Oak Park shopping scene for almost 4 years, Nora makes it her mission to stock uncommon footwear, catering to those who want to stand out as individuals.

There are many tantalizing styles to choose from this season: motorcycle, cowboy, riding, tall, short & in between - but there are a few that catch my eye immediately.  The Manas Design, “fango” for $309. with its shearling lining, & lug sole - will keep your tootsies warm and footing secure.  I love the neutral color - and will pair them with a navy or purple dress and tan fish net stockings. .....There are the amazing distressed “Lote” boots from Liberty Black.  I feel like Clint Eastwood in these, pairing them with leggings, or pencil skirts & tights will be a cinch!

I can not put down the Fidgi grey suede lace up booties, for $258. Boot cut jeans are longing to be paired with these weekend basics that are very ‘of the moment’.  Easy on the eyes are the waterproof patent leather tall “Stephie” boots from Valdini for $184., these have a side zipper, micro fiber insert at the back for stretchy comfort, and sizing for larger calves.  All of the options I have chosen have a block heel, this provides secure footing and supports your weight, so you can wear them all day & into the night.

Lastly, I can not leave Nora’s with out checking out the permanent sales rack in the rear.  I usually find something in my size here, and sure enough I spot the All weather, chocolate leather shearling lined, tall boot from Pajar.  They had me at All Weather, and on sale for $120. seals the deal.

For those of you on a budget, I have an alternative universe option: step out in these cool lace up duck boots from Old Navy with faux raccoon fur, only $60., so cute!

These boots are made for walkin’! Stay warm, dry and chic this Fall/Winter season with local options.

You ask & I will find it ~ are you in need of a particular wardrobe item and have no clue where to find it?  I can help, and I love a challenge!

Thanks for commenting Jill & Hoopley Doo. There are some pricey footwear to be found here, no doubt - but if the quality is a match, then I consider it an investment, even w/o the Unicorn fur!

Are they made with unicorn fur? Thats the only way I could see ANYONE spending that much money on those things.@ Jill: Please, if you are willing to waste your money like this, give it to me so I can do something useful with it.
