Piertiz Brothers Inc., located at South Blvd. and Ridgeland Ave., has been in business for over 115 years. Three generations have managed and owned this unique office supply store. Amazingly, three generations of my own family have shopped here.

It’s pretty safe to say that almost anyplace my grandmother shopped is going to hold a special place in my Oak Park heart. And Pieritz is just one of those spots. I can't name one Christmas when Pieritz products haven't been part of our stocking stuffer regimen. My grandmother congratulated us all with new pens from Pieritz as we graduated from college.

As an independent adult, I have been completely wowed by their outstanding customer service. Last year when I needed labels, and I only needed 40 labels, Pieritz sold me just two sheets. As a stay at home mom labelling girl scout cookie packets for my daughter's troop, it would have been wasteful for me to buy a big pack of labels from a mega store. I’m still a little stunned at how fantastic that small action was. It made my day so much easier and saved me about $30.

That level of service and Pieritz’s unique personality are exactly why this gem has been open for 115 years. Yep, this vintage era store has personality and lots of it. John Roberts and Deb Pieritz, have ensured that the store offers unique products you can’t necessarily find anywhere else.

When I needed a really nice guest book - I found one at Pieritz. I couldn't find alphabet dividers for my 3 x 5 card file - I found them today at Pieritz.   And if I couldn't find it - I'm sure Deb or John would order something for me.

Full confession: I have a bit of a notebook addiction. Some people like scarves or shoes. Me? I could buy a new notebook everyday. Pieritz has them all. And to get in the Halloween spirit - I can get these really fun RHODIA notebooks at Pieritz. Pieritz just expanded the selection they offer. I took lots of pic's.

And of course, I couldn't resist today. I have my new notebook sitting on my desk. I'm ready for my next meeting. I'm sure all of my co-workers are going to be jealous.

Parking? I've never had a problem finding a parking space just steps away from the front door. Parking even on a rainy day has always felt convenient here. fyi. Deborah and John have exactly the kind of owner presence that has kept Pieritz around for 3 generations. Kudos to them for finding the right combination of reputation, customer service, personality, and good quality products.

By all means, stop in at Pieritz Brothers. They have everything you need for your home office supplies, and if they don't have it, they'll get it fast. I have loved this store for 37 years.

Actually,we have been renting on this corner for 42 years. It does seem sort of unbelievable at times. But we have the best customers. Thanks for all the great comments and the wonderful article.

I cant believe a store like this is still alive. No parking and times have changed. Seems that maybe the business owns the building and is kept alive by the tenants rental income to subsidize the business? Tax right off?

Pieritz is a great store. I buy all of my office supplies there. They even had a large custom rubber stamp made for me. They have a great selection of antique typewriters and adding machines on display too. Go to this place!

Outstanding! I am also a member of a multi-generational family who've shopped here for decades & so happy that they're right here in town! The customer service is amazing and so friendly - what a difference vs. the mega stores! On my last visit, I was looking for a certain ink color & had help to test and pick just the right one (plus, I was gifted a free label - it was a remnant piece of a larger label that was the perfect size!)! Thanks for your efforts and continued presence!

I used to feed my notebook addiction at Border's--I didn't even think of Pieritz! Thanks for the tip.

And I thought I was the only one in town with a notebook addiction! Pieritz is located half-way between home and my studio. So, convenient for last minute supplies. And if they don't have it, they get it for you the next day...with a smile!

I saw the window signs today for the Rhodia notebooks and didn't know what they were. Now I do. My wife has started to buy the handmade greeting cards and loves them. This really is a special store.
