Sisters Kate and Anne Pezalla had a head start when they were considering Oak Park as a location for their new business. Having grown up in Oak Park, they already understood, loved the community, and knew it would be a good fit for their women's fitness apparel and shoe store, Lively Running.

"Oak Park women tend to be very active, but many were driving to OakBrook or into Chicago for athletic apparel," Kate says. "We saw a need for a place in our area where women could get their fitness clothes and shoes in a supportive environment - especially important when you're shopping for sports bras!"

Opened August, 2014, Lively Running was a true labor of love. When their mother passed away after a long battle with leukemia, the sisters took comfort in running & family time. Realizing a desire to build on that family bond, Kate and Anne began working on the store concept.  Lively provides hard-to-find independent brands along-side bigger labels.  Look for Megan Lee Designs - local silk screener, for t-shirts & cute baby onesies, as well as Trina Turk tops, jackets, Lole and Prana brands.

Both Sisters are certified running coaches and users of their store's products; they offer customers first-hand advice on purchases as well their fitness plans. "Whether they're already involved in a sport, just starting or getting back after a having a baby or recovering from injury - we can give suggestions and answer questions about training & what apparel or shoe will benefit ones work-out regime" Kate says.
