A very Happy New Year to all of you lovely readers!  Now that the parties and celebrations are over, its time to think about the year ahead.  Whether or not you are one to make New Years resolutions (I do not) now is the time to regenerate.  My favorite part of the post Holiday season is the lounging..glorious, indulgent lounging and pampering.

I am looking for crazy comfy t-shirts and over sized sweaters to wear, and very much in need of a restorative facial and massage.

Which brings me to my Style Tip of the week, Part One: I can get all of the above at Team Blonde on Madison St. in Forest Park!   In their current location now for 3 years, owners and Oak Park residents, Heidi Vance & Jayne Ertel, opened their custom design jewelry shop about 8 years ago.   They bring a unique experience to the local consumer expanding to  include socially conscience apparel, handbags & now: a full service Spa & Salon, yipeee!

As you may know, my goal with this Blog is to bring you timeless tips to enhance your personal style, and to update and expand your wardrobe.  While working to promote ease, style & joy in your closet, one must not forget the other key components of looking and feeling good: a  healthy body, a chic & functional hairstyle & color.

Some of the treats we can explore:  get in touch with the health benefits of massage: according the the Mayo clinic, massage can have medicinal qualities such as reducing cronic stress, headache, and depression.  Choose from swedish, sports, pregnancy and aromatherapy massages, 60 minutes for $80.

Analyzing your skin’s unique needs, “we blend the ingredients & treatments for each individual facial”, says Heidi, as she walks me through the etherial, multi roomed spa at the rear of the store.  Corrective results are achieved through herbal facials using completely organic products, formulated and packaged by 'Elina' in Michigan.   Also available are non-invasive eye, lip treatments and ‘face lifts’ to firm facial muscles and improve the appearance of wrinkles - wow, sign me up for that!  Prices range from $50 - $100.

Have any of you not yet heard of the no-chip manicure?  For $39 a thin layer of colored gel is applied to your nails, then hardened in a uv lamp to provide lightweight, strong protection & 2 weeks of perfect color; genious.  The signature pedi includes soaking, buffing organic scrubing and massage for $45; and there is also paraffin treatment - a neccessity for winter.  Oh, and if you become a member, you save 10% monthly.

Lets talk tresses: Team Blonde hair stylists use the lastest technology in contemporary hair design to fit your lifestyle, and low-ammonia color treatments w/ natural beeswax for condition and shine - all from Paul Mitchell.  Cuts start at $40 for men, and $60 for women.  Color starting at $ 55.

Team Blonde offers amazing products and services with a conscience.  The New Year is a perfect time to foster a commitment to a healthier, more stylish you; get on over to Madison street and check it out.  Or have a Spa party for you & your friends!

Tune in next week for part 2 of ‘It takes a Team’.
