After a long day of counseling students and overseeing the student services department at Oak Park and River Forest High School, assistant principal Jeremiah Wiencek looks forward to spending time with his family at home.

He’s noticed that kids in general have their own little personalities and sometimes say the funniest things. His three-year-old son, Quin, constantly cracks him up.

“He loves trains. My wife and I are sitting on the couch and he’s at the table building his little train set. And he asked me to get him a drink. So I jumped up to get him a drink and he’s like, ‘Move your feet lose your seat,’ and jumps into my chair. I said, ‘Where do you get this from,’” Wiencek said while laughing. “So I lost my seat. They have this little sense of humor, and they don’t realize it but it surprises you.”

Wiencek is featured in this week’s Wednesday Journal.
