Is The Betty White District next?

Sure, Betty White wasn't raised in Oak Park like Hemingway and didn't make a Frank Lloyd Wright mark, but she was born in Oak Park — which makes her forever an Oak Parker in my book.

This week the 91-year-old actress and comedian got herself into another book: The Guinness World Records for being the "Longest TV Career for an Entertainer (female)," according to White's accomplishment will be included in the 2014 edition (in stores now).

White was born on Jan. 17, 1922, and made her television debut in 1939. She has starred in popular shows like "The Golden Girls," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," and "The Carol Burnett Show." Certainly an Oak Parker to brag about.

Hemingway got his own Oak Park district this year, maybe White is next? Think of the tourism possibilities. I'd shop there.

Read a Q&A interview with White here.

When she was 2, she moved to Los Angeles with her family. That was in 1924 by the way.

Betty White, an only child, lived with her parents, Horace and Tess White in Apt. #3A, 218 Pleasant Street.

NO. Would love to claim Betty White, but based on the facts presented, this sounds like Cicero's lame effort to claim Hemingway because Oak Park was part of Cicero township when he was born. My kid's were born at Prentice but that doesn't make Chicagoans. Percy Julian wasn't born here, but he was certainly an Oak Parker. We have enough to be proud of in Oak Park without this spurious claim.

I would be profoundly grateful if I never had to hear the Hemingway quote again about OP's wide lawns and narrow minds. By all means, let's work some of Betty White's saucy quotes into our rotation.

I say Yes; particularly if she was born on the south-side.
