Park District of Oak Park photo book for sale at free launch party
The Dec. 13 party draws the 100th anniversary year to a close

By Devin Rose
At the end of the 100th anniversary year of the Park District of Oak Park, residents are invited to a launch party for a limited edition commemorative photo book.
Only 250 copies of the book, "People, Parks and Play," will be printed, according to a statement from the park district. It features photographs taken throughout Oak Park by local photographers and depicts the many ways the park district contributes to the quality of life in the community. It will be available at the Dec. 13 event for $20 per copy, or as a bundle with the book "Pleasant Home—A History of the John Farson House" for $25.
Select prints from the book will be available for silent auction. The contributing photographers will be signing copies of the book onsite. Any remaining copies will be available for sale at the park district administration building, 218 Madison St. Proceeds from the sales will benefit the park district's scholarship fund.
The free launch party will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid Ave. For more information, visit www.pdop.org/book.
