Oak Park and River Forest High School is proud to announce that senior Becca Pearce has been selected as a member of the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. Ms. Pearce will join the elite group of high school musicians and color guard performers who will perform during the halftime show at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Sat. Jan. 8, at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The selection was officially announced Wed. Sept. 29 by Major Fred Hockett during a presentation in the high school band room after school. Ms. Pearce, a member of the Marching Huskies and a member of the color guard, thanked band director Anthony Svejda, her parents and band-mates for her success in marching band, and for encouraging her pursuit of the honor.

The U.S. Army All-American Marching Band recognizes only 125 high school senior marching musicians and color guard members from across the country. Their talents are showcased during one of the largest celebrations of high school football in American at the live-televised Bowl game in January. The selection committee included judges from the National Association for Music Education and Drum Corps International.
