Dr. Robert E. Madden, 89, of Bronxville, died on July 30, 2015. Born on September 16, 1925 in Oak Park to the late Joseph and Gertrude Madden, he graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School and served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, the University of Illinois College Of Medicine, and on May 25, 1958, married Susan Hale in Chicago.
Until his retirement in 2011, he was chief of Vascular Surgery, professor of Vascular Surgery, and a cancer researcher at New York Medical College. He was also a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, The Knights of Malta, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, the Celtic Medical Society, and the Bronx Catholic Physicians Guild.
Robert Madden is survived by his children, Robert, Lisa, Karen, and Kevin; eight grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Virginia Madden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, and his brother, Francis Joseph Madden.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass, 10:30 a.m. at St. Giles Church, 1045 Columbian Ave. in Oak Park, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
