Sharon Moravec Lennox (nee Bishton), 65, who bravely battled small cell cancer for nearly a year, died at her Oak Park home surrounded by her family on Aug. 23, 2015. Born in Chicago's West Pullman neighborhood on Dec. 4, 1949, she was a longtime member of the Suburban Fellowship Club of Forest Park, a former board member of NAMI, a volunteer at Thrive Counseling Center, and a fervent supporter of mental health awareness and education. A real estate and insurance broker, as well as a real estate appraiser, she co-founded and co-owned Morlen Realty Corporation of Oak Park with her husband. Periodically throughout her life, she found peace through her writing and, in her last months, wrote countless poems and verses that will be a comfort to the many who loved her.
Sharon Lennox is survived by her husband of 28 years, Michael J. Lennox; her son, Richard Moravec (Kimberly); her stepdaughter, Christine Mendez (Alberto); her stepson, Michael Jr. (Melissa); her grandchildren, Nick, Laura, Shannon, Lucy, Bella, Lizzie and Liam; and her aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and the many people she mentored. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosina Bishton (Bertolone) and Richard Bishton, and her sister, Jessie Mae Bishton.
Visitation will be on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 3 till 8 p.m. at Oak Park's Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31 at St. Giles Church. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
