The Oak Park District 97 Board of Education unanimously approved the first round of bids for construction of the $8.5 million administration building to be built at 260 Madison St. Board member Rupa Datta was absent. 

At the Aug. 11 meeting, the board awarded a total of $1,202,377 in contracts to seven firms for temporary fencing, concrete barriers, surveying, excavation services and street sweeping.

According to Therese O’Neill, asst. superintendent for finance and operations, district officials have talked with the district’s construction management firm, Bully & Andrews, and its architectural firm STR Partners about a second round of bids to be presented to the board at the Aug. 25 meeting. 

Construction on the two-story, 22,000-square-foot building is set to begin this summer, with a targeted completion date of summer 2016.

  • UCP’s bid of $5,940 for concrete barriers and JSS’s bid of $14,800 for surveying were rejected, but the board authorized Bulley & Andrews to accept the firms’ quotes for the work, bringing the overall bid package total to $1,202,377
