Relocate deer, don't kill them

They should relocate the unwanted deer to Southern Illinois instead of killing them [River Forest pursues deer sharpshooter program, News, July 17] unless they are going to process the meat and give it to local families who need help feeding their families.  Deer meat, venison, is very lean and a delicious source of protein. Down here in Southern Illinois, where I live, we have plenty of deer for them to become familiar with and plenty of room for many more. The southern seven counties have hundreds of miles of land available that would be a much safer environment for them.

Several years ago Animal Control officer told me that moving deer is impractical because half the time legs are broken and they must be put down. I bet Brookfield zoo would be p;eased to find use for venison.
