Stand up to authoritarianism

Trump is threatening to send troops to cities around the U.S. as modern-day storm troopers/slave patrols that will brutally attack citizens. Trump is a Putin lackey who wants to be a dictator like Putin. We must stand up against this authoritarianism.

A self-ordained professor's tongue Too serious to fool Spouted out that liberty Is just equality in school "Equality," I spoke their word As if a wedding vow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now. Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats Too noble to neglect Deceived me into thinking I had something to protect Good and bad, I define these terms Quite clear, no doubt, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now.

Please excuse my inattention here, Ms. Siragusa. Got my posts switched around. For the purposes here with Ms Lopez and Ray-Ray, you're quite correct this is a hobby, one in which I respond to the right wing fools and Trump apologists posting here. I erroneously thought you were referring to the racial bias issue.

I guess my response to you, Ms. Siragusa, would be that if people here can't tolerate a little contentiousness and even unpleasantness on a newspaper comment board, just how do you think they'll fare tackling the issue of racial injustice? You know, that "fearless" dialogue they're always trying to have but never manage to actually engage in?

You both need to find another hobby beside the Wednesday Journal comment section. Something positive and constructive perhaps. Perhaps teaching grammar or ESL to the locked down children in your area.

Still wondering: So what is the recourse of the federal government when local authorities don't protect federal property and refuse to cooperate? Such a simple question, yet you continue to refuse a dialogue and instead sit in your pseudo moralistic ivory tower telling people who disagree with you to just go away. You are such a class act Mr. Dwyer. I'm not sure if your behavior resembles more of the fake tan man in the oval office or the snowflake college students who refuse to listen to anyone they perceive as "offensive". Please, don't let me interrupt your monologue.

If my ripping into your ignorance is self-appointed authority, Ms. Lopez, then consider me guilty. Your last sentence tells me all I need to know about your tenuous connection to reality. Enjoy your bubble with Ray-Ray.

I know you aren't as familiar with Google as the rest of us, since you are blessed with so much innate knowledge, but if you search "Portland Federal Courthouse" and click on images you will clearly see much more than "vandalism" taking place. Shooting fireworks inside a building along with kerosene balloons is not simple vandalism. Clearly, you are troubled when someone has the nerve to question your self appointed "authority" don't you. Calling the federal agents who protected a federal courthouse as a dog and pony show is no different than the dog and pony show of removing statues without your precious "process". Unfortunately, grifters, liars and third rate hacks not only describes our current administration, but Biden's as well.

Ms. Lopez, really, run off and live I your thought bubble. The news reports I read at the time Federal agents arriving spoke of local police responding to the vandalism. But that doesn't met your ridiculous ongoing assertions here that Marxists are trying to take over the country. You're flat dead wrong- it's a totalitarian autocrat and his followers who are attempting to take over this country. I'm pretty damn fed up with people being in the streets protesting for going into the third month now. But I'm far more fed up with a government filled with grifters, liars and third rate hacks that is failing us at every turn during a pandemic and a massive economic crisis. The federal agent sent to Portland were a cheap political trick doing with the sole purpose of making your asinine fool of a president look macho and effective.

As usual, you evaded the question I posed to you and then accuse me of disengaging in critical thought. So what is the recourse of the federal government when local authorities don't protect federal property and refuse to cooperate? What is the solution to this: https://apnews.com/2ed5ad6a436febbcc75761639e6e214b

Yes, Ms. Lopez, I prefer a federal courthouse just be burned to the ground- wait, well, unless, of course, I'm in it reporting on a trial, as I've done on numerous occasions. But other than that, you go with the assumption I want federal court house to burn, since that silly belief seems to be easier for you than the effort to engage in critical thought.

Am I to assume that you never use google Mr. Dwyer, that you are somehow blessed with vasts amounts of knowledge us minions are not. So what is the recourse of the federal government when local authorities don't protect federal property and refuse to cooperate? Sounds like you prefer a federal courthouse just be burned to the ground.

Congratulations on successfully Googling the Federal Code, Ms. Lopez. I'm going to take a guess here and assume you don't have any idea how local, county , state and federal law enforcement formally cooperate. Here's a clue for you- the feds don't just come in and take over streets that don't belong to them. They come in at the request of state and local authorities. Your narrow-minded nd reactionary POV is going to be refuted in November, and we can begin the process of restoring both order and the law that is supposed to underpin that order.

@ Mr. Dwyer. Speaking of familiarize yourself with legal precedent, have you taken a gander at 40 U.S. Code 131? You know, that crazy one that gives the federal government the right to protect federal property. When local authorities have no interest in preventing a federal courthouse from burning down, the federal gov't is left with no choice, but to step in. Funny how you consider that authoritarian by the way. Authoritarian is removing a statue of Columbus in Grant Park with no process in place (well all know how you love processes to remove murals, artwork and statues). Authoritarian is burning bibles in the middle of a public street. Authoritarian is rioting because someone you disagree with is coming to speak at a college campus (includes comedians).

There's the clueless Ray Ray again, suggesting people learn to use "25 cent words" when his authoritarian hero can't put six 10 cent words together to form a coherent sentence. Read the Constitution, Simpson, familiarize yourself with legal precedent and try to have some basic idea of what you're talking about. Federal law enforcement routinely works with local law enforcement in a cooperative manner, but usually at the request of local authorities. They DON'T walk in and just take over. You extreme right wingers are real unprincipled hypocrites - you want state's rights when that satisfies your goals, and you demand absolute state fealty to the federal government when that satisfies your goals. It doesn't work that way. The clock's still ticking- but because the corrupt hacks in the Republican controlled Senate wouldn't hold Trump accountable, it's left up to We the People to do so, in 93 days. Tick... tick... tick...

What part of Federal Troops Protecting Federal Property is beyond our "Progressive" residents intellect? Perhaps learning how to use $ .25 words before tackling the two dollar list would be good advice. I understand that you harbor hatred for President Trump, but consider this, what if you find out that your hatred is based on a well organized lie? Just my two cents worth. I thought we were a more tolerant community than this!
