Robert F. Uphues, 88, of Berwyn, died on July 24, 2015. Born on Jan. 8, 1927, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, then worked in the plumbing supply business for more than 50 years. 

Robert Uphues is survived by his wife, Virginia M. (nee Williams); his children, Therese M. (the late William) Hawkins, Robert J. (Lynlee), Michael R. (Tammy Zeglis), Patrick F. (Alena Murguia), Christopher R. (Jennifer) and Elizabeth M. (Eric) Evans; his grandchildren, Sara E. (Michael) Pendergrass and Allison M. and Megan T. Hawkins, Robert C., Patrick D., Daniel E., Benjamin M. and Katherine I. Uphues, Michael T. Uphues, Patrick R., Connor T. and Matthew J. Uphues, and Luke E., John W. and Joseph D. Evans; his sister, Dolores E. Alonso; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank P. and Therese E. (nee Hintze) Uphues. 

Visitation was held on July 27 at Oak Park's Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St. A funeral Mass was celebrated on July 28 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Congregation of St. Joseph, 1515 W. Ogden Ave., in LaGrange Park, followed by interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Donations to Nazareth Academy,, in lieu of flowers, are appreciated by the family.
