Now that the OPRF school board is conducting more meetings when this newspaper is awake, we’d appreciate a straight answer to this simple question. Is the real purpose of the district’s enormously aggravating lawsuit against the village government of Oak Park and the District 97 elementary schools to recover a measly couple of million dollars or, rather, to force the premature end of the entire downtown TIF?
We ask that question because any number of local officials have been telling us off the record for months that District 200 wants to bring the entire TIF down seven years early, and that’s why they are fighting so hard on this suit. Now, Oak Park Village Manager Tom Barwin, who is clearly as frustrated by this suit as this newspaper, has said, on the record, that he agrees that is the high school’s purpose.
So, a simple question. How about a direct answer from our high school?
