"It looks like it's going to rain, so it's a perfect night for listening to some stories," said nurse/author Elizabeth Berg at a Celebration of the Nursing Profession hosted by RUSH Oak Park Hospital on May 23. Some 70 nurses and other fans of all ages had registered for the event. Those who attended were treated to readings by Berg from several of her novels and short stories, followed by a reception and book signing.

Berg, a resident of Oak Park, has written many books including Open House, the August 2000 Oprah's Book Club choice, Durable Goods and Joy School, which were each named American Library Association Book of the Year. She also received the 1997 New England Booksellers Award
for her body of work. Berg was a practicing RN for 10 years before becoming a bestselling author.
