Oak Park police arrested Justin Dougherty, 28, of Western Springs yesterday after police observed him walking in the alley in the 500 block of S. Humphrey Avenue and emerging from between garages around 8:45 p.m. When officers asked for identification, Dougherty reportedly had, in his wallet, a number of plastic baggies containing an off-white powdery substance that later tested positive for heroin. When told he was under arrest, Dougherty allegedly fled east.

After a brief foot chase, he was taken into custody in the 100 block of S. Austin. Dougherty was reportedly found to be in possession of 87 baggies of heroin totaling 35.1 grams. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and held for bond hearings.

I think one of the differences here in opinion is that an object cannot have intrinsic value. An object only has instrumental value. I'll use opiates like heroin as an example. this drug has no intrinsic value in itself. It can be used for whatever purpose the person acting on it chooses. In my hands in the form of morphine it relieves the pain of children after surgery. In Mr. Dougherty's hands in the form of heroin it supports an addiction. Moral value is based off action not the object.

a couple of things here Muriel. Kinsey didn't plan he studied and started a conversation based on actual data at a time when that sort of thing just wasn't talked about. Leary was far from the only person experimenting with psychedelics in the 60's. our own government was testing on soldiers. look up operation delirium. The gun industry makes guns.. big news.

it is obvious that the so called"Sexual Revolution" of Kinsey.the drug fun of Leary, the 12 billion dollar gun industry, have all produced chaos. A Task Force is in order. Re my remarks on Kinsey-dont get fussed. sex is OK just not the way he plannedit!!!We desperately need a moral compass.and lets start with sensible gun control.i am staying firm i will not buy, use,or shoot a gun.As for heroin, this poor guy is a loser.
