Bonnie G. Rossell (nee Gibbs), 67, died on May 24, 2014. Born on March 12, 1947, she was active in many Oak Park organizations. Among other community roles, she served on the board of the Hephzibah Children's Association. Mary Anne Brown, executive director of Hephzibah, said, "Bonnie was a hard-working member of the Hephzibah board at a time when Hephzibah was exploring ways to serve the community. She never missed a board meeting or an opportunity to spread the word about Hephzibah through the villages."

Frank Muriello helped teach her the business of appraising real estate some 40 years ago. He remembers her as, "bright and highly intelligent. She was good with people. Bonnie asked good questions. And thanks to Al, she was well versed in real estate. She is going to be missed."

Bonnie was married for 48 years to Al Rossell, a local Realtor and owner of Jack Carpenter Realty. The two began dating while she was still in high school, Mr. Rossell said, adding that she had been active in the Holmes School PTO where she helped bring mandatory lunchroom supervision to the district at a time when many students had begun to stay at school all day.

"She wanted to make her own mark in appraising and she did," he said. Her specialties included appraising homes on the National Register of Historic Places and she had an active role in the Chicago and national organizations of appraisers.

Bonnie Rossell is survived by her husband, Al; her children, Reid (Diana Ditsch) and Lori (Anthony) Ebbole; her grandchildren, Alyssa and Evan and Raina and Niko; her sisters, Dorothea Napier and Susan (the late George) Stamm; her nieces and nephews; and her many friends.

Visitation was held on May 28 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home with a funeral Mass celebrated on May 29 at St. Edmund Church for Mass. Interment was private.
