Kostopulos mulled run for prez
Sitting Trustee Gus Kostopulos said he had contemplated making a run for village president, but later decided to not enter into a race with fellow board members Diana Carpenter, Bob Milstein and David Pope.
“There were too many people running. People were pushing for me to run, but I asked to withdraw,” he said Monday.
Kostopulos also noted that the decision of his son-in-law, Mas Takiguchi, to campaign for a trustee seat also played a part in his decision.
“I think he’d be very good. It would be good to get some young blood,” he said.
Oak Park’s First, not second
Candidates selected by the Village Manager Association (VMA) to run in April’s village board elected have settled on a name for their slate, Oak Park First, and have established an accompanying website, OakParkFirst.org.
The website features a message board where residents can pose questions to the candidates, which will be answered online.
A schedule of campaign events is also available at the site.
F.L. Wright: ‘Prodigious liar’
In a recent review of a new biography of Frank Lloyd Wright, Business Week calls the master “one of the most prodigious liars of the 20th century.” As if that weren’t mean enough, the reviewer labels him “a deadbeat dandy, a shameless mooch, and a very public home wrecker.”
OK, we’ll give you all that. But how about those great buildings!
The review is of Frank Lloyd Wright by Ada Louise Huxtable, who is identified as the architecture critic of the Wall Street Journal. The magazine called it “a welcome, enlightened addition to the library of Wrightmania.”
Next thing you know, someone will write a book accusing Hemingway of being a womanizer.
Wright still packs ’em in
According to informed sources, recent visitors to Wright’s Home and Studio included Dan Ackroyd and family and Stacey Keach. Not bad for a prodigious liar.
