River Forest police arrested and charged a man they described as a “career burglar” for the same offense after an incident at about 6 a.m. on June 18 at St. Vincent Ferrer School.

Randy I. Berrier, 40, of Chicago was charged with felony burglary, after allegedly breaking into the school 1515 Lathrop Ave. and taking several items, including cash. An employee had just arrived at St. Vincent Ferrer School and reported seeing Berrier inside the school office area.

Berrier apparently fled the scene after being spotted, but Oak Park police reported seeing him boarding a bus at the intersection of Harlem and North avenues.

At a hearing subsequent to Berrier’s arrest, a Cook County judge set his bond at $40,000. Berrier is being held in the Cook County Jail, awaiting a July 6 hearing at the Maybrook courthouse.
