Bernard Judge, 79, formerly of Oak Park, died of pancreatic cancer at his home in Chicago on June 12, 2019. Born on the South Side of Chicago, his family moved to Oak Park, where he graduated from Fenwick High School in 1957, then attended John Carroll University. After landing a job as a reporter with the City News Bureau of Chicago in 1965, he joined the Chicago Tribune in 1966 and eventually became metro editor. In 1983 he was named editor and general manager of City News Bureau, then moved to the Chicago Sun-Times where he was associate editor. He became the publisher of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin in 2001.

After retiring in 2007, he co-authored (with Neal Samors) Chicago's Lake Shore Drive: Urban America's Most Beautiful Roadway. He is a member of the Fenwick High School and Chicago Journalism halls of fame.

Bernie Judge is survived by Kimbeth Wehrli Judge and three children.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, June 22, at St. Giles Catholic Church, 1025 Columbian Ave., Oak Park.
