I wrote this piece in the late '90s when I was doing anti-racism programs designed by the Presbyterian Church. I presented the short series to a number of congregations in the western suburbs. My son formatted my smaller poems in an artistic accordion book in 2010.
The photo is of a tobacco drying shed that I took from the side of the road near my home in Virginia. Not sure that it was ever published elsewhere. Tragically, it is timely still.
