Harold James Murray III, 54, of Bellwood, died on April 22, 2011 at Hines Veterans Hospital in Hines, following a long illness. Born at the U.S. Army Hospital in Ft. McClellan, Ala., on Nov. 18, 1956 to Harold II and Roylene (Pieper) Murray, he attended Oak Park and River Forest High School and served in the U.S. Marines from July 1975 until July 1979.
He loved to cook and had professional training as a chef. Among the many different types of work he did over his lifetime, none pleased him more than cooking.
Harold Murray is survived by his wife, Jane Stopka Murray; his eight children, Brian, Harold IV, Patrick, David, Casey, Sharon, Sophia, and Ella; his father, H. James Murray II; his mother, Roylene Pickard and stepfather, Donald Pickard; his grandmother, Doris Pieper; his siblings, Cari (Doug) Kremer, Steven Murray, and Debora (Louis) Panza; his nephew, Nicholas Panza; and his niece, Anna Panza.
Interment with full military honors accorded took place at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood on May 2, 201l. Arrangements were handled by the Dept. of Veterans Affairs and Heritage Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made directly to the American Cancer Society, the Angelman Syndrome Foundation or the donor's choice.
