Oak Park Public Health Director Mike Charley announced on May 23 that five more residents have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the village of Oak Park's number of cases to 272. The individuals in the five newest cases range in age from 20s to 70s.

On May 22, Charley reported that two residents tested positive for COVID-19. The individuals in those cases range in age from their 20s to their 30s. Charley also announced yesterday that one resident, a man in his 70s, died from what is likely the 20th fatality caused by COVID-19 in Oak Park.

The village cannot release further information regarding any of the cases due to privacy laws. However, as with the previously reported cases, it also released the following announcement:

"The Oak Park Department of Public Health is working closely with officials from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), investigating and notifying anyone who may have had exposure to the individual who tested positive for COVID-19. Local public health officials, hospitals and first responders are following protocols consistent with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)."
