Oak Park Police have taken two men into custody following a shooting outside Chase Bank at the corner of Oak Park Avenue and Madison Street, according to Oak Park Deputy Police Chief Frank Limon.

Limon said three men were conducting bank business separately at Chase, 800 Madison St., at about 3:20 p.m. They exited the bank and an altercation ensued on the bank's property, with two of the men assaulting the third, he said.

One of the men then shot the victim in the abdomen, and the two suspects fled, according to a village press release.

"Police responded and witnesses gave police a description of the vehicle; the vehicle was stopped by the Oak Park Police Department," Limon said.

The press release noted the men were apprehended near Madison Street and Austin Boulevard.

Police took the two suspects into custody and recovered a weapon from the vehicle. The victim was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. There was no further information on the condition of the shooting victim.

The press release called the shooting "an isolated incident among acquaintances" and noted that a motive has not yet been determined.

Mike H---I didn't realize JHW was a constant contributor. I've frequented Oak Park's retail and restaurant establishments hundreds of times over the years, going back to the Kroch's and Brentano/ Marshall Fields days. But you have to admit crime has increased markedly over the years, especially recently. And, though I hate to admit it, if I can't park near the restaurant I want to patronize, I keep on driving. That's not taunting, just being realistic.

@Ben Venuti For several years now, JHWIII has posted on here solely for the purpose of taunting Oak Parkers whenever a crime is reported upon--that is the definition of a 'troll'. But I sincerely appreciate your concern and hope that OP's retail and restaurant business can somehow manage to limp along without your dollars. Whoops, I'm sorry--did I come across as a little defensive again?

Are we a little defensive, Bill and Mike? I'd feel safe walking around Glen Ellyn any time of day or night. Oak Park, not so much. The crime must be affecting the retail and restaurant business.

Well, John, it happens in Oak Park the same way that the recent shooting in Glen Ellyn happened on May 9, where the victims drove themselves to the hospital. You're familiar with Glen Ellyn, aren't you, John?

Then it's a good thing you don't live here, troll.

How can this be happening in the OP? This is frightening.
