Oak Park Public Health Director Mike Charley announced on May 15 that an Oak Park resident has died – becoming the village’s 15th likely death caused by COVID-19. The most recent fatality was a man in his 90s. The Cook County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.

Along with the recent fatalities, Charley reported that four Oak Park residents have received positive COVID-19 test results. They range in age from 30s to 50s. Oak Park now has a total of 232 cases. However, that number could change as public health officials verify residency.

Due to privacy laws, there is no additional information to report.

As with the previously reported cases, it also released the following announcement:

“The Oak Park Department of Public Health is working closely with officials from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), investigating and notifying anyone who may have had exposure to the individual who tested positive for COVID-19. Local public health officials, hospitals and first responders are following protocols consistent with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).”
