We want to thank the voters of Oak Park for electing us as their village trustees [VMA slate sweeps Oak Park village board, News, April 6]. We pledge to do our very best, and to earn the trust you have placed in us. We also want to thank and acknowledge all the candidates who ran for office, and to encourage their continued involvement and engagement in community affairs.

Over the last few months we have been fortunate to meet with so many Oak Parkers. We’ve listened hard to what you love about our village, and also what concerns you. Those conversations and the ongoing conversations that we expect to have with you will help us lead Oak Park.

As we move from campaigning to governing, we understand that we now represent those who voted for us, those who voted against us and those who didn’t vote. In these challenging times, we will partner with all Oak Park citizens and stakeholders to ensure progress in our village.

Times are tough. The one message we heard again and again on your front porches, at coffees and candidate forums is that you want us to manage your tax dollars wisely and efficiently. We will do so.

Thank you, and we look forward to hearing more from you as Oak Park continues to move forward.
