Lorraine Miller, 87, Former OPRF High School cook

Lorraine M. Miller, 87, longtime Oak Park resident, died at home on April 4, 2011. Born in Chicago on Nov. 14, 1923 to Russell and Neva Wadham, she was raised in Oak Park, graduating from Whittier Elementary School and Oak Park and River Forest High School.

Ms. Miller was the head cook at OPRF for 13 years. She had a great love for animals, a good sense of humor and welcomed everyone into her home.

Lorraine Miller is survived by her husband of 66 years, Russell A.; her children, Kathyrn (Robert) Jackson, Patricia (Michael) Davies, Michael (Robin) Miller, Patrick (Muriel) Turley, Jeanne O'Laughlin, Diane (William) McCracken, Louise (Robert) Buford, Paul (Debbie) Miller, and Andrew (Ann) Miller; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Raymond McGraw.

A visitation and funeral Mass were celebrated on April 9 at St. Giles Church. Interment was private. In lieu of masses, please give to the Oak Park-River Forest Food Pantry, 848 Lake St. Call 708-386-1324 or visit oprffoodpantry.org.

Arrangements were handled by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home.
