I have known Colette Lueck as a trusted colleague and friend for the past 10 years through working together in various capacities in children’s mental health. Having a person of Colette’s caliber serve as trustee for the citizens of Oak Park is truly a step in the right direction for our community. I have witnessed the impact of Colette’s leadership in human services and mental health in the state of Illinois and nationally. Colette is a brilliant, inspiring and talented social scientist who has spent her career as an effective advocate for those who have been disempowered in life.
Colette is able to draw dissenting voices into conversation and to ensure that all are heard. In her reasoned, thoughtful and competent manner, she has been a mentor to many human service professionals and is a role model as a public servant as well. Colette is able to cut through the political agendas that sometimes cloud right from wrong. She is exceptionally skilled at seeing the “big picture,” and allocating public resources in a responsible, organized and efficient manner, which is critical in the difficult times we face as a village. Her integrity is sound. Her vision is clear. Her commitment to the greater good is genuine. I will be proud to cast my vote for Colette, and I encourage you to do the same. Responsible leadership is what Oak Park needs.
