The village of Oak Park announced March 24 that a third Oak Park resident has tested positive for COVID-19. The resident is a woman in her 30s. Due to privacy laws, the announcement contains no further details regarding the woman’s condition or medical history.

According to the village’s news bulletin, the woman underwent screening and testing March 13 and received confirmation of the positive test result March 24. It has not been made public why her diagnosis came more than a week after testing. As established under state and local public health protocol, the village of Oak Park subsequently received notification of the test result.

Just as in the previous two positive cases, the village stated in this announcement, “The Oak Park Department of Public Health is working closely with officials from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), investigating and notifying anyone who may have had exposure to the individual who tested positive for COVID-19.”

It also stated again that hospitals, first responders and public health officials are following protocols consistent with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
