Joanna Daniels has spent a lifetime perfecting her craft.

The Oak Park resident, with a slew of movie, television and theater credits, currently stars as Ethel Mertz, running around the Broadway Playhouse stage in Chicago, trying to keep Lucy out of mischief in the acclaimed production of I Love Lucy.

But while her life onstage gives her the instincts to get into character, she says the job of being a mother of two while maintaining a career comes with no script. The role calls for a lot of improv.

"It has been hard work, but I wouldn't trade either experience," Daniels said. "I always go back to what my mother used to say: 'When one must, one can.'"

Joanna was fabulous in I Love Lucy, I can't imagine anyone creating a better Ethel Mertz. Loved the show in Indy! Ms P
